About Theatre of Convenience
This amateur theatre company was co-founded by Rachael Uyeno and M. K. Wessel in the midst of the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic. Their collaborators (aka coconspirators) were separated by state lines and oceans, but the Zoom Boom of the 2020s provided an answer: virtual theatre. While Zoom Theatre (aka Zeatre) comes with some unique annoyances, ToC is proud to have collaborated with artists across 6 time zones.
The only rule at ToC is that we have no set schedule and make no promises for future projects. This platform merely provides a place for opportunity, collaboration, and connection.
Our Beliefs
We believe theatre is for everyone. Although we are a small endeavor, we are committed to anti-discriminatory practices and uplifting underrepresented voices. We also do not charge for our shows, as everything is operated on a volunteer basis. ToC is accessible to all with computer access.
